Arsenal trio star see the funny side of family ties in new advert

Arsenal have flexed their new-found commercial muscle in a mockumentary video with EuropCar UK, which features the best acting efforts of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Jack Wilshere and Per Mertesacker.

Gunners stars are no stranger to viral video gold, with an effort in support of Paddy Power's rainbow laces campaign earlier this year a particular favourite.

EuropCar UK's collaboration with Arsenal is something very different, with fans offered a comedy glimpse into the lives of the crazy family members that supposedly lead very different lives to their famous relatives.

Trudy Mertesacker is a sight for sore eyes

Mertesacker's 'sister' Trudy is a particularly striking addition, a baking-obsessed battleaxe who claims her success forced Per to live in her shadow as a youngster.

Wilshere's 'uncle' Kenny meanwhile manages to convince nobody that he had the talent to join the England international in Arsenal's midfield, before turning his hand to unique mix of philosophy and plumbing.

Former star of The Office plays a part

Oxlade-Chamberlain's plane-spotting cousin Darren is perhaps the strangest of the three characters created, a plane-spotter nicknamed The Shrub who can't even kick his habit during a big game at the Emirates.

Eagle-eyed comedy fans among may well recognise the actor playing Darren in one of the more bizarre commercial tie-ins a Premier League club has taken part in, which you can check out for yourself in the video at the bottom of the page.
