Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge ruled out for the year

Published 1 Comments

Daniel Sturridge is unlikely to play for Liverpool again this year after the Merseyside club confirmed the striker has suffered a fresh thigh injury in training. The 25-year-old has not featured for Brendan Rodgers' side since picking up the problem on international duty with England back in September, and new scan results show he's likely to be sidelined for another six weeks - taking him to the New Year. In Formula One, four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel has signed a three-year deal with Ferrari following Fernando Alonso's exit from the Italian team. The German's switch from Red Bull for next season was announced minutes after Alonso's departure was confirmed - with the Spaniard now expected to join McLaren. And finally, Rugby Union where Stuart Lancaster has hit back at claims of favouritism after refusing to drop under-performing star Owen Farrell for Saturday's match against Samoa at Twickenham.
