In Dubai, Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry shared the lead after yesterday’s first round play on the European Tour’s final event in the series. Returning from a six-week absence, Rory shot a 6 under 66 at the DP World Tour Championship.

The world number one and Race to Dubai winner ensured fans earlier this week that this event would not be reduced to a victory lap, and he made sure to deliver that promise early on, hitting four birdies in the opening five holes. Play is currently underway for the second round at the Jumeirah Golf Estates course.

Julieta Granada currently leads in Naples Florida, for the season-ending CME Group Tour Challenge on the LPGA Tour. She has a two stroke lead after shooting a 66, and now looks to close in on her first tour victory since 2006. The top three are further down the pack, with Stacy Lewis tied at third, and Inbee Park and Lydia Ko down at 13th.

Well that’s it from us today, we’ll be back on Monday with a roundup of all the weekend’s action. In the meantime, start thinking up your golfing questions ahead of next Wednesday’s special, where you have the chance to interview Cara Robinson.
