Survivor Series was the most surprising Pay-Per-View we have had so far this year and it led to one of the greatest moments in the events history.
The night proved to be monumental for many men and one achievement in the show could have meant more than we realised.
Naturally, it comes from the Team Cena vs Team Authority match in Team Cena emerged victorious after some unbelievable events.
The match largely hinged on outside interference to determine the winner as various members of the Authority got their hands dirty.
Triple H was the biggest influence until the final few minutes when Sting shocked the world and made his WWE debut, eventually winning the match for Team Cena.
- Did the WWE make big mistakes with Survivor Series and and Sting
- Superstar wrestler set for huge championship run
- WWE's Survivor Series event was a huge success
All the aftermath was focussed on the ousting of the Authority and of course, the actions of the wrestling legend.
But for Dolph Ziggler, it was a very impressive night and one I feel sent a bigger message than we have realised.
Following the Big Show's betrayal, it came down to a three-on-one situation where Ziggler was left alone against Seth Rollins, Kane and Luke Harper.
Ziggler somehow got it down to a one-on-one situation and of course eventually got the big win courtesy of Sting.
What were the WWE showing us?
The WWE's love of a 'passing of the torch' match is well known, at WrestleMania X8 the Rock defeated Hulk Hogan to become the next in line for the legacy of professional wrestling.
John Cena then defeated The Rock at WrestleMania XXIX to become the face of the WWE in 2013.
Of course Ziggler didn't defeat Cena nor did he even face off against him, but he carried Cena's name in a match where lets face it, Cena was barely even involved.
Ziggler put in a big performance and it sends one clear message in my opinion.
I won't try and claim that Ziggler is now the new face of the WWE over Cena, but I do believe that the match at Survivor Series was a true declaration that they are moving Ziggler back to the top of the card.
Ziggler has been involved in some feuds that could largely be considered middle card in recent months but being the last man standings under such incredible circumstances at Survivor Series could show that the winds have changed.
Ziggler has been to the top before and he would certainly be a break from the same old competitors going for the big prize.
All that being said, Its unlikely Ziggler will be the man to take on Brock Lesnar when he finally re-emerges next month but I predict a title run in the future for Ziggler.
