Former Manchester United defender and coach Phil Neville has been singing the praises of Palermo star Paulo Dybala, who has been linked with a move to Old Trafford.

The talented Argentine youngster has been compared to compatriot Sergio Aguero and linked with a January move to the Premier League. It's been suggested he could cost in the region of £31 million.

Transfer race

Manchester United are said to be in the hunt for the 21-year-old, along with the likes of Arsenal and Southampton. It seems he has at least one fan at Old Trafford having impressed Neville while playing for Palermo in their 1-1 draw against Genoa, where the young forward got on the scoresheet after just seven minutes.

He wrote on Twitter: "Watched a player last night who's going to be a star Palermos Argentine Dybala remember the name!!"

The endorsement by Neville, who spent the majority of his career at Old Trafford and was also on the coaching staff under David Moyes, is likely to be noted at Manchester United. It seems the former defender isn't the only one to have faith in Dybala's ability, with Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini declaring that he has the potential to be the best in the world.

“Within two years, he's going to be better than Cristiano Ronaldo, [Lionel] Messi and [Zlatan] Ibrahimovic," he said.

"It would take €40m (£31m) to take him away from us. He's the best striker in Serie A."

Battle

Whether Manchester United - or indeed Arsenal or Southampton will make a move for him anytime soon remains to be seen, he is unlikely to be a transfer priority in January for any of the three clubs and a summer switch seems more likely.

You can check out Dybala's goal from last evening, which perhaps shows just why Manchester United and Arsenal want him, below:
