Paris Saint-Germain manager Laurent Blanc has admitted that qualification to the Champions League knockout stages is not enough and he wants to keep winning games.
The big spending French champions dropped their only points of the group against Ajax in their opening round fixture; a 1-1 draw. Since then they have beaten APOEL twice and Barcelona 3-2 at home and are currently ahead of the Catalan giants at the top of Group F.
Ajax have not had such a good campaign after only earning two points from four games, although the Dutch side were not tipped to qualify from the group they only managed to draw with APOEL, a team which they should have beaten comfortably.
Although, the match between PSG and Barcelona on December 10 is likely to produce the winners of the standings, the French club know that a win against Ajax could see them win the group, if the Spanish fail to get a result against APOEL.
Blanc, however is determined that to keep PSG’s winning formula in Europe going and is not taking Ajax lightly.
He said at his press conference: “Before thinking of Barcelona, we have to first have to think of the match against Ajax.
“If we want the game against Barcelona to be decisive, we need to win tomorrow. I have deep respect for Ajax, they have some very good attacking players. They always develop good young attackers and that is the case again.
“That is they are a special club, Christian Eriksen has gone (to Tottenham) but they now have Davy Klaassen and Anwar El Ghazi.”
PSG defender David Luiz is available after being rested for Friday’s 3-2 win over Metz, whilst Blanc will be without midfielder Yohan Cabaye and Marco Verratti, as well as forward Jean-Christophe Bahebeck and goalkeeper Nicolas Douchez.
Meanwhile, Ajax will be without the suspended Joel Veltman after his red card against Barcelona and has been replaced by 21-year old Stefano Denswil.
