Johnny Manziel has been in the news for all the wrong reasons after he was alleged to have punched a fan before a late night brawl at the weekend.
According to reports, Manziel was asked for a hug by a fan before the Browns back-up quarterback then sucker-punched the fan.
But rather than criticizing or disciplining the rookie QB, Cleveland head coach Mike Pettine has come out with some rather bizarre quotes as he even praised Manziel over the incident.
“I’ve had a talk with Johnny,” Pettine said. “He was very up-front with us and notified us immediately when it occurred. As far as in the building, he’s been a true professional, he’s done everything that’s been asked of him, but obviously this is something that’s unfortunate.”
Mike Pettine may be supporting Manziel but the police report is much more damning. "The police report states the alleged victim approached the man he claimed was Manziel and said: “I’m the biggest Browns fan ever. I want to give you a hug.”" NESN reported.

Damning police report
"The victim claims he took a step toward Manziel and was struck “several times in the face.” Manziel’s crew, according to the report, then jumped in, and a bigger fight began. An apartment employee then attempted to break up the fight, and police eventually arrived."
These off the field shenanigans from Manziel are just the latest in a long string of bad behavior that is fuelling Manziel's poor reputation.
From his decision to go to Las Vegas during training camp to the time he gave the Washington Redskins bench the finger, Manziel is acting more and more like a child during his career in the NFL.
The latest incident is just another example that Manziel can't handle the tough grind of the NFL. These incidents are a regular occurrence for the talented signal caller, and Pettine should be criticising Manziel not praising him after an incident like this.
