Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods and Big E finally debuted their new gimmick at the Smackdown tapings on Tuesday night.
For weeks WWE has teased fans with vignettes of the “New Day” gimmick featuring Kingston, Woods and Big E, but the wait for fans looks to be over after the trio defeated Curtis Axel, Heath Slater and Titus O’Neil in a six-man tag-team match.
The three superstars have been teaming together for months now at live events, but fans have been itching to see the charismatic trio on television.
All three superstars have had stop-start careers, most notably Kingston who despite his eight-year tenure and popularity with WWE fans, has yet to make the jump to the main event scene.
The 33-year old is a former Intercontinental champion, having won the belt four times, as well as capturing the United States title and the Tag-team championships on multiple occasions.
- Chairs match announced for TLC
- WWE act quick to stop CM Punk's impact on huge event
- Huge update regarding Randy Orton's return to WWE
On the other hand, Big E and Woods have only been on the main roster for two years, the former the only one to do anything of any note when he won the Intercontinental title, but both have struggled to get television time as of late.
The trio came out in matching blue outfits, compete with their new entrance and pyrotechnics.
The three men were supposed to debut their new stable on next weeks Raw, but it looks like WWE changed their minds and they will feature on this Friday’s Smackdown.
Unfortunately for the grapplers they may be limited in terms of the matches that have after the recent split of the Wyatt family, there are currently no other stables in WWE consisting of three members.
