Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti says that Basel are better than Liverpool and that they will knock the Reds out of the Champions League in the final fixture in Group B.
Ancelotti’s Madrid side sealed the top spot in the group last night, after their 15th consecutive victory in all competitions, after Cristiano Ronaldo scored the only goal in their 1-0 win against Basel last night. The Los Blancos boss feels that the Swiss side will knock Liverpool out at the first hurdle.
The 55-year old is quoted by UEFA, as saying: “I think Basel are currently better than Liverpool, I see a small advantage for Basel in the last round of games.”
Ancelotti saw his side thrash the Merseyside club 3-0 at Anfield earlier this season and admitted that he would not be surprised to see Basel get a similar result, when they play them in two week's time.
Though it is always difficult at Anfield, I see Basel having a slight advantage against Liverpool - Carlo Ancelotti
He added: “Basel can certainly compete in Liverpool, they are physically strong, like to play well and are well organised. Though it is always difficult at Anfield, I see Basel having a slight advantage against Liverpool.”

Liverpool must beat Basel to progress
Liverpool are in third place after letting a 2-1 lead slip last night versus Ludogorets, leaving them two points behind Basel and they must beat the Swiss side in order to qualify for the last 16.
Brendan Rodgers’ side lost last time they played Basel back in October and they cannot afford a similar result in the reverse fixture in a fortnight's time.
The draw last night could be the difference between Liverpool progressing or not as they now find themselves in a must-win game like fellow English side Manchester City who also need a win and Bayern Munich to beat CSKA Moscow.
