Chris Sutton has urged his former club Celtic to sign John Guidetti on a permanent deal after impressing since making his loan move from Manchester City.
Guidetti has notched ten goals in 11 appearances so far this season and Sutton believes the Swedish striker should extend his stay at Celtic Park.
He told GiveMeSport: “There has been a fee agreed. Will he sign? Well I think he should sign. I think Celtic suits John Guidetti, John Guidetti suits Celtic.”
“He’s the centre-forward Celtic have missed"
The forward remains ineligible for Celtic’s Europa League campaign, which continues tonight against Salzburg. Sutton was speaking on behalf of BT Sport, and will be part of their presenting team for the game, he believes Guidetti has all of the attributes of a complete striker.
“He’s the centre-forward Celtic have missed," he continued. "He has the ability to run in behind, he holds the ball up well, he creates chances for himself and he can score goals, Celtic have missed that.”

"I think that would be a real show of intent if Celtic got him on a long contract and it would give everybody a real lift“
Guidetti has made just one senior appearance for his parent club City and despite some disappointing loan spells in England, has shown the potential he displayed in Holland. The ex-Blackburn and Chelsea striker thinks Guidetti would be a real coup for the club.
The right environment
He said: “I think he went to Feyenoord and scored a lot of goals but went on loan to Burnley and Stoke and things didn’t go well for him there.
"He’s now gone to Celtic everything seems great. I think that would be a real show of intent if Celtic got him on a long contract and it would give everybody a real lift.“
Sutton also feels the Kris Commons contract saga needs sorting out as soon as possible.
He finished: “There seems to be issues whether will he, won’t he? I’m obviously not party to what’s going on but something doesn’t seem quite right there.”
Commons’ deal expires at the end of the season and Celtic’s Player of the Year has been linked with January moves to the Premier League.
