The January transfer window must be close if the amount of transfer rumours involving Manchester United are anything to go by.
Today the Red Devils are being linked with a swoop for Raphael Varane, while rumours persist of a move for both Fabio Contra and Pepe.
Varane has struggled for game time at the Bernabeu and according to the Daily Star, the Red Devils could lodge a £30 million bid. Chelsea have also been linked with the young Frenchman, who is unlikely to be on the move if Pepe is sold first.
Wesley Sneijder looks likely to be on the move next year and of course the Red Devils are being mentioned in connection to the Dutchman. Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has a close relationship with Snejider from their time together with the Dutch national team at this summer's World Cup.
Manchester United linked with 'new Kaka'
Perhaps the most interesting link for Manchester United fans is £12m-rated Brazilian Lucas Silva. He’s beed billed as the new Kaka and Van Gaal appears to be leading the race for his signature. His agent has confirmed talks with the Red Devils ahead of a potential £12m transfer.
There aren’t many details,’ he told reporters when quizzed about the move. ‘I confirm I was contacted by people linked to Manchester United. There are no official bids. We are waiting.’
There was some good injury news for Manchester United fans, with Radamel Falcao back in training and both Ander Herrera and Jonny Evans nearing comebacks.
Falcao has been out of action since October but is closing in on a comeback as he looks to earn a permanent switch to Old Trafford. Both Evans and Herrera featured for the U21's earlier this week and came through unscathed.
There was some good news about Marcos Rojo too - the Argentine is back in training having suffered a dislocated shoulder earlier this month.
