Could backstabbing be behind the Jets failure this year

Published 2 Comments

It has been a horrid year so far for the New York Jets and it is still not over for their team and fans.

They have seen some horrendous performances, embarrassing moments and even protests from the fans, so needless to say, the Jets will be excited to see the end of the season.

The talk around the MetLife Stadium all year however has been the job security of either their Head Coach Rex Ryan or their General Manager John Idzik.

However there is a new revelation around the team that could possibly suggest their current 2-9 season isn't just because of the teams misgivings on the pitch.

Despite their failures at the Quarterback position and constant demolition on defence, is there a reason for their losses off the field.

Rumours have emerged that under pressure coach Ryan could have had prior knowledge of his marching orders before the season.

According to a report published Thursday, Ryan has had knowledge that Idzik is planning on firing the Jets coach all season.

Apparently, Ryan heard from scouts and head coaches around the league this past off-season of Idzik's intentions.

"Did he think that wasn't going to get back to me" - Rex Ryan on the post-season rumours

Clearly more tension than previously realised at the Jets and Ryan's comments have now made their bad season seem even worse.

Despite the sudden revelation, Ryan has looked ahead to the rest of the season and doesn't appear to be giving up on his team yet.

"That's a challenge that's in front of me. We've got to get a lot better in a hurry."

Not a year to remember

At 2-9, the Jets are certainly not having a year to remember with their games against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Oakland Raiders and New England Patriots being the highlights.

Despite losing to their divisional rivals, the Jets gave the Patriots a good run for their money as only a blocked last second field goal caused their defeat.

Following their latest defeat - a 38-3 mauling by the Buffalo Bills, the Jets camp is clearly very low on morale and this latest announcement will not help it.

With a game against the Miami Dolphins next up for the Jets, they could be in need of a morale boost.

There is however light at the end of the tunnel for the Jets as they face trips to the Minnesota Vikings and Tennessee Titans after the Dolphins game.

The Jets could have chances for two more wins before the end of the season as the age old question of winning the game or going for a higher draft pick will undoubtedly loom.
