Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has denied that Lukas Podolski could be sold in January, and insisted he’s yet to receive a bid for the German international.
Podolski has had little first team action this season and is seemingly heading towards the exit with Wolfsburg said to be interested in the striker. The former Bayern Munich man has admitted that he would assess his options in January if he didn't get more on-pitch action - and although little has changed in that respect Wenger insists he won't be forced into selling up.
Wenger said at a press conference today: "I have good connections with Lukas and we talk about the situation. He faces big competition on the flanks and basically that is the consequence of him not getting the number of games that he wants.
"He has an outstanding attitude and he works very hard in training. Our job is just to be ready when you are needed for the club and he does that very well."
When quizzed about potential interest from Wolfsburg he replied: "I have had no enquiry about Podolski from anybody."
Ramsey urges Arsenal to push on
Aaron Ramsey believes Arsenal’s win over Borussia Dortmund in wed-week could spark a run of form that will carry them up the Premier League.
The Gunners have won just four league games this season, which has left them down in 12th in the League table. However Ramsey says beating Dortmund is just the type of win that could kickstart a revival for the remainder of the campaign.
"We picked up where we left off from Man United in terms of the way we played, but we got the early goal this time," Ramsey said. "It always helps when you score first and you could see the confidence in the team [afterwards]. We defended really well and kept a clean sheet.
"I said the other day that hopefully we would win against Dortmund, as it was a fantastic game to test ourselves after a disappointing defeat by United. We have come out winners and hopefully now we can get back to winning ways in the Premier League and go on a run there as well."
Gunners to swoop for Vlaar
The Express claim that Arsenal will make an £8 million bid for Roon Vlaar. The Aston Villa defender is out of contract in the summer and has been linked with Manchester United.
The Red Devils may instead decide to focus their interest on landing Gerard Pique, which would give the Gunners a clear run at their man.
