For every day in December until Christmas we'll be bringing you a fantastic goal to feast your eyes on in order of their greatness. Today it's Neymar's beauty against Rayo Vallecano from February.
The goals included in the calendar have all been scored within the period from January 1st, until November 8th. The reason why goals scored after that date has been excluded is that a certain amount of time was required to make the selection, as well as other preparations. The goals have been picked out by a jury of three people after a thorough review of the football year. In order for it to be in the calendar, a goal has to have been scored in one of the top European competitions.
The goals have been examined on the following points:
Difficulty - Plain and simple. The goals have been rated in regard of the skill displayed.
Resistance - includes anything that might have affected the level of the opposition. If a goal means the difference between win and draw, it has been higher valued than a 7-0 goal scored in the 90th minute. The base quality of the team who conceded has also been taken into account.

Neymar v Rayo Vallecano
The way that Neymar evades his first opponent is exquisite, but the shot is even more so. Such power, such speed, such distance. Anyone who's ever played football knows how hard it is to shoot like that. The shot almost always ends up flying 10 feet over the crossbar. Not for Neymar, though. His shot flies accurately into the top corner.
The goal in itself is magnificent, but the fact that Rayo Vallecano already are down by a discouraging 5-0 certainly has its effects. Therefore, this goal is ranked as the 25th best goal of 2014, and not higher.
