Napoli players feature in bizarre calendar

Napoli have always been a club with an eye for the esoteric; any club that had a denim shirt and are owned by a film producer are bound to be a bit different.

However they have outdone themselves this time. They really have. The Serie A club have unveiled a sneak peek of their 2015 calendar which involves various players, as well as boss Rafa Benitez, dressed up as Roman gladiators of sorts.

If you want to mark down memorable dates underneath Marek Hamsik in a pair of leather pants then this is the product for you. If you want to keep on top of your social life while gazing at Rafa Benitez clad in leather body armour clutching a piece of tactics cloth, this is the perfect gift for you. If you don't want any of those things, then give it a miss I reckon.

Perhaps the high point of the calendar (or low point when it comes to things like decency and quality) is star striker Gonzalo Higuain being strung up like the Messiah. It really is that bizarre.

The players look to be enjoying the shoot - probably because it offers a respite away from the pitch. Napoli currently sit third in Serie A, a whopping 11 points behind leaders Juventus who are running away with the title.

There were some questions over Bentiez's future in Naples during a bad run of form earlier this term, but they are unbeaten in their last eight and the pressure appears to be off the former Liverpool boss for now.

That's probably why he was willing to get involved in easily the weirdest piece of football merchandise ever.
