Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal is ready to hand David de Gea and Michael Carrick new deals at Old Trafford, according to the Telegraph.
It appears, that despite the Dutch boss likely to axe a number of his players in 2015, that he will look to keep the duo at the club beyond the end of this season.
It's certainly not a surprise that the Red Devils are prepared to enter negotiations with their No.1 goalkeeper. After all, De Gea runs out of contract at the Theatre of Dreams in 18 months time and has been without a doubt the club's most consistent performer of late.
In fact, after receiving the club's Player of the Year award for last season, the Spaniard has once again excelled between the sticks this term. He's already produced a number of magnificent performances under Van Gaal, and United will be determined to keep him at the club for the long term.
Back off Madrid
And with Spanish giants Real Madrid reportedly interested in his services, it appears that United will look to tie him down sooner rather than later.
Midfield ace Carrick, meanwhile, has produced the goods for the club for a number of years now, and it appears that the club want to keep him at the club for the 2014/15 campaign.
There's no doubt about it, since the return of Carrick, United have looked far more balanced in the middle of the park as he continues to thrive at the club, despite the player's advancing years.
It's extremely likely that both De Gea and Carrick will start for the Red Devils in their next fixture as the Old Trafford outfit travel to the St Mary's to take on third placed Southampton. Van Gaal's side will be hoping to secure their fifth straight league victory on Monday evening as they continue to climb the table.
