The Superclasico, where riot police are a regular sight, is widely regarded as the ‘craziest rivalry in world football’ and judging by some of the incidents that have occurred in connection, no one is surprised why.
In the very latest incident, a helpless mother, who was in attendance to watch her team River Plate face off against fierce rivals Boca Juniors, was savagely beaten in front of her daughter.
Miguel Angel Zienzonok, who has the nickname ‘Ketchup’ due his like of leaving rivals fans covered in blood, was named as the man who brutally attacked Lorena Sabio.
33-year-old Sabio shared the horrifying images of the injuries she sustained on Facebook in a plea to get the ‘thugs’ punished in court.
The young mother, along with eyewitnesses said that the attacked was ‘unprovoked’.
Sabio said: “He came up to me and I couldn't believe it when he just punched me in the head.
“I was lying on the ground barely conscious, and he told me to stay there and warned me that if I went to the police, I would pay the price.”
Not taking the threat of the clearly dangerous individual – she informed the Argentinean authorities about the incident, however having no arrest has been made, Sabio posted the gruesome pictures on Facebook to raise awareness and get the police to act.
She added: “He has threatened me and his family have told me to stop the campaign, but what more can they do to me, they have already ruined my face.
"I have difficulty even managing to eat, and will need dozens of operations that I can't afford to return my health. My daughter has nightmares.
"The man is crazy, and unless somebody stands up to him he will probably carry on doing it and next time probably kill someone.”
