From December 1st until December 25th, one goal will be presented each day. The goals in the calendar have all been scored within the since January 1st this year.
The goals have been picked out by a jury of three people after a thorough review of the football year.
For December 6th, we have decided to take a look at Gareth Bale's goal against FC Basel in the Champions League...
Considering Bale's movement pattern, it certainly looks like the lob over the keeper was intentional. If that's the case, this goal is a great demonstration of skill in several ways.
Mainly, however, it is very rare that players think fast enough to get such an idea, and carry it out. Whichever club Bale chooses to play for, one can only hope that he will continue to kick like a horse and run like the wind. It is a pleasure to watch.
The explanation behind this goal's relatively low rank despite it being the only of its kind is that its importance falls short to other goals on the list. Basel is a fairly hard team to play against, but the goal merely enlarged the margin with which Real Madrid would win by.

The goals have been examined on the following points...
- Plain and simple. The goals have been rated in regard of the skill displayed.
- Resistance includes anything that might have affected the level of the opposition.
If a goal means the difference between win and draw, it has been higher valued than a 7-0 goal scored in the 90th minute. The base quality of the team who conceded has also been taken into account.
In order for it to be in the calendar, a goal has to have been scored in one of the following competitions...
- The FIFA World Cup
- UEFA Champions League
- Barclays Premier League
- FA Cup
- Liga BBVA
- Copa del Rey
- Serie A
- Coppa Italia
