Former WWE superstar and main eventer CM Punk has announced an incredible new deal to become a UFC fighter.

Punk hit the headlines in recent weeks after revealing why he left the WWE, featuring on a podcast where he spilled a lot of dirty secrets about the company.

And he has now got himself a big new deal. Punk confirmed today to Joe Rogan during UFC 181 that he will actually fight in Ultimate Fighting Championship, where he is sure to be a star and huge attraction.

It had been roundly speculated that Punk and UFC head honcho Dana White would be in discussions about a potential deal this weekend, but no-one expected a deal to be done already!

Punk confirmed on the UFC's official Twitter that he will be in the Octagon from 2015 onwards in a select number of fights, the amount of which is not yet known.

While UFC President Dana White mentioned that he and Punk would be talking this weekend at UFC 181, PWInsider reports that the two have been talking for some time and a deal was in the works before this weekend.

Punk noted during UFC 181 that he will be figuring out a training camp soon and has made several inquiries already. He will speak more about coming to UFC on the FOX Sports 1 post-show tonight.

As noted, Punk will be fighting at middleweight or welterweight. UFC's Michael Bisping, who is a middleweight, tweeted this earlier, welcoming Punk and laying down the gauntlet early for the former WWE champ.

So WWE and UFC fans what do you think! Will Punk be a success in UFC or is he bound to fail? Tell us what you think in the comments below...
