Stop whatever it is you’re doing and watch this video now: Atalanta defender Guglielmo Stendardo has surely produced the worst miss of the season so far.

The 33-year-old centre-back is certain to go viral after somehow - we still can’t work out how he managed it - missing an open goal from one yard out. Yes he was at a slight angle, and no he’s not a striker, but that’s no excuse - 99 per cent of people reading this article would have buried this chance with their eyes shut.

Stendardo also scored

Fortunately for the embarrassed Stendardo, his shocking miss didn’t prove costly, as Atalanta recorded a 3-2 win over Cesena.

Remarkably, Stendardo had scored his first goal of the season - and only his fifth goal since joining Atalanta on a permanent basis in 2012 - earlier in the match.

Humiliating

Stendardo netted the equaliser on the 50th minute to make it 2-2, before Maximiliano Moralez put the hosts 3-2 ahead minutes later.
