Liverpool v FC Basel

Champions League

Anfield

Tuesday 9 December, 19:45 KO

Liverpool need maximum points from their final Group B game to secure second spot behind leaders Real Madrid and progress to the knockout stages of Europe's elite club competition.

Brendan Rodgers is unable to call upon veteran centre-back Kolo Toure who has been ruled out of tonight's Anfield clash with a groin injury so Croatia international Dejan Lovren deputises at the heart of defence.

Jose Enrique makes a rare start for the Reds, who also name Brazilian Lucas Leiva in a three-man midfield alongside Jordan Henderson and Joe Allen.

Club captain Steven Gerrard will play once again in a more advanced attacking midfield position behind lone-striker Rickie Lambert, with Raheem Sterling out wide.

Adam Lallana and Philippe Coutinho are both named on the bench and will provide good creative options for Rodgers if things aren't going to plan against the Swiss outfit.
