Carolina Panthers star Cam Newton hit the headlines earlier in the week after he was rushed to hospital following a car crash near the Panthers stadium in Charlotte.
The franchise quarterback suffered two fractures in his lower back after his truck flipped following contact with another car.
Now the former Auburn star and Heisman winner has finally spoken out after the ordeal, taking to Instagram to reveal how he is lucky to be alive following the accident that left his truck a write-off.
"I do not know where to begin because by the look of that picture soMEone is supposed to be dead or severely injured worse than what I am right now!"
Newton went on to thank God for keeping him safe and telling his followers never to hold a grudge or carry hate in their heart towards another person, no matter the reason.
"YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELF "IF" you are holding a grudge against someone, "IF" you don't tell the people that's close and dear to you that "YOU LOVE THEM" every chance you get, "IF" your mad because something didn't go your way today!" Newton added.
FORG1VE "whoever" for "whatever" they did! Trust when I tell you that L1FE is to short for you NOT to do those things!
It isn’t everyday that a professional athlete goes through a situation like Newton did, and it can really shake a person up. Despite all the pain Cam was obviously in, it is good to see him coming through it with such a positive attitude, no matter if you have differing religious beliefs.
Newton has been ruled out of the Panthers game on Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, with backup Derek Anderson deputising under center as the Pro-Bowler rests and recovers.
