Shami Hassan suffers brutal double foul in Qatar

Every striker will, at some point in their career, find themselves painfully clattered by a goalkeeper - that odd breed of footballer who seem to get some sort of perverse pleasure from poleaxing those who dare to try and score against them.

One blow is often painful enough, but poor Shami Hassan suffered two horrific fouls within the space of several seconds.

The Al-Shahania striker was knocked to the floor by Al-Sadd’s goalkeeper, whose teammate then inexplicably slid into the prone Hassan to inflict a brutal double foul.

The sickening incident was caught on camera and promises to go viral over the forthcoming days - has there ever been a more horrendous double foul committed in such a short space of time?

Fortunately for Hassan, his side went on to record a 3-1 victory thanks to a hat-trick from Iran international Masoud Shojaei - a victory for justice, given the circumstances.

Plenty is done by match officials to protect goalkeepers when it comes to penalty-area challenges, but should more be done to protect players and, in particularly, strikers?
