In the dark match of the first week in a match the television fans won’t be able to watch, Solomon Crowe was in action as he took on a surprise opponent in Brian Kendrick who could be coaching at the Performance Center; Crowe picked up the win by hitting the Slingshot Splash.

The first show opened up with former NXT Champion Adrian Neville talking about how he should be coming to the ring to congratulate Sami Zayn on becoming the new champion but Zayn couldn’t be here to accept it, thanks to Kevin Owens. This prompted Kevin Owens to interrupt Adrian Neville and told him that he was there to get to the very top and he’s willing to fight anyone to get there, Owens presumed Neville wanted to fight and told Neville he’s now got one.

Becky Lynch defeated Bayley in the opening match via submission whilst both Baron Corbin and Bull Dempsey picked up quick victories against enhancement wrestlers. The Ascension were in tag team action as they defeated the team of Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady who had Carmella in their corner. After the match The Ascension told the NXT Universe that their war with Hideo Itami and Finn Balor was far from over, the vignettes surrounding their imminent main roster call-up have already been shown on SmackDown so it remains to be seen as to how long they will remain on NXT.

In the main event, both Kevin Owens and Adrian Neville fought to a no contest, on the outside Owens dominated once more as he hit the apron powerbomb on Neville like he did to Zayn at R Evolution to stand tall at the end of the show; great to see they have faith in Owens and they are throwing him right in the deep end with great success and results.

Kicking off the second show was Charlotte who successfully retained her NXT Women’s Championship against Sasha Banks in an NXT Takeover: R Evolution rematch. Ric Flair made a surprise appearance to introduce Charlotte to the ring, she picked up the win by locking in the Figure-Eight Leg Lock.

The Lucha Dragons were in action, defeating the team of Jason Jordan and Tye Dillinger, the Vaudevillains attacked the Lucha Dragons after the match so another championship match could be on the cards.

Carmella picked up her first loss on NXT, defeating the infamous “Ol’ Blue Pants” after a distraction by Enzo cost Carmella, Enzo paid the price after the match as Carmella attacked him. Baron Corbin then picked up a victory of the resident jobber that is CJ Parker, Bull Dempsey was in the crowd and after the match Corbin asked Dempsey if he was scared. To everyone’s surprise, Corbin pulled Dempsey over the barricade and the two then brawled.

Charlotte was out once more, saying she’s defeated everyone there is to beat on NXT and this prompted Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch to attack the Women’s Champion, Natalya then ran out for the save to set up a future tag team match between the four women.

In the main even Finn Balor and Hideo Itami defeated The Ascension once more, Itami picked up the victory by hitting the spinning roundhouse kick whilst he even teased another GTS which the fans loves, sooner or later the crowd will erupt when Itami does finally connect with the GTS.

Sami Zayn was finally back on NXT and was celebrating his championship win a little later than planned thanks to Kevin Owens. He celebrated with the fans before getting into the ring and said that in anyone else’s hands the NXT Championship means you’re the best, but in his hands the gold means he can do it his way; telling the fans it ‘our’ title. He went on to talk about how Takeover was supposed to be the best night of his life but it ended up with Kevin Owens hitting the powerbomb on him, saying it hurt him but it didn’t kill him and he’s here, ready to defend the NXT Championship against anyone, anywhere at any time.

Adrian Neville was out next and told Zayn he now saw him as a new man, admitting Sami Zayn was the better man at Takeover but kindly reminded him that he is entitled to a rematch whenever he wants one. General Manager William Regal then thanked both men, calling their match one for the ages and announced that the main event for next week will be a rematch between Adrian Neville and Sami Zayn for the NXT Championship.

In the opening match Sasha Banks defeated Alexa Bliss whilst Tyler Breeze was back in the winning books, he defeated Chad Gable who is Olympian Chas Betts who is said to be a very good in-ring worker.

The Vaudevillains did get their championship rematch against The Lucha Dragons, and they failed to dethrone them once more. In the main event, Hideo Itami utilised his spinning roundhouse kick once more, defeating Curtis Axel.

In the final show in this set of tapings, Finn Balor picked up a victory over Tyson Kidd, hitting the diving double stomp on the back of Kidd’s head.

Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch defeated Charlotte and Bayley as Sasha got the pin over the Women’s Champion using the small package. Surprisingly, Baron Corbin and Bull Dempsey were competing against one another and Baron Corbin won in around three minutes – many thought their match would be saved for the next special event.

In the main event, Sami Zayn defeated Adrian Neville to retain his NXT Championship in what was to be another impressive match from the two. Kevin Owens was out after the match and attacked Sami Zayn before kicking the NXT Championship belt into his head. It looks as if Owens will be Zayn’s next challenger, especially since there have been a number of rumours suggesting Adrian Neville will be the next man to be called up to the main roster, perhaps with a new gimmick.

The next of tapings are set for January 15th with an NXT special set to take place the following month.
