Bayern Munich could swoop for Raheem Sterling

The January transfer window is almost upon us so it’s no surprise to see the papers packed with rumours this morning.

The Daily Star are carrying a big story about a potential swoop from Bayern Munich for Raheem Sterling. The German giants have identified Sterling as an alternative target should they fail in their bid to land Marco Reus - who is of course a target for Manchester United and Real Madrid.

The Borussia Dortmund ace is said to have a clause in his contract which will allow him to move for just £20 million in the new year, and that is likely to spark an almighty transfer battle.

Along with Manchester United and Real Madrid, Arsenal have also been linked, meaning that if one of those clubs land the forward it would put Liverpool in real danger of losing their brightest youngster. Manchester United in particular would take great joy in that.

Montoya on the move

The agent of Martin Montoya has confirmed his client will move in January. The Barcelona defender has been linked with Arsenal and Liverpool, and has a £16 million buy-out clause.

The defender is out of favour at the Nou Camp and is likely to head towards the exit soon. "He is going to go in January and all that has to be done is to reach an agreement with Barcelona," agent Juan de Dios Carrasco said on Tuesday.

"There are a number of clubs in England that are ready to negotiate for him and his buy-out clause is 20 million euros."

The world of football are paying tribute to one of the greats of the modern game in Thierry Henry after the Frenchman announced his decision to retire from the game.

Thierry Henry retires

Cesc Fabregas, Mesut Ozil, and Aaron Ramsey are just a few to have praised the 37-year-old, who enjoyed a glittering career playing for the likes of Arsenal, Barcelona and New York Red Bulls.
