Roma midfielder Kevin Strootman has hinted that he will stay with the Serie A side for the remainder of the season, reports the Daily Star.
The Dutchman, who has recently returned to the club's set up after a long injury lay-off, has been linked with a big money move to the Premier League in recent time.
In fact, the duo of Manchester United and Chelsea have been linked with the player's signature ahead of a possible move to England in the winter window.
And now, with Roma out of Europe's elite competition, it was suggested that a move to the Premier League could be on for the tough-tackling midfielder.
Strootman, though, has indicated that he will be staying with his current club as he insisted that he's looking forward to his side's fixtures with Feyenoord in the Europa League in February.
Posting on his own Facebook page, the Dutchman stated: I'm really looking forward to play the two matches against Feyenoord in February. They are a young and talented team and are playing well. In a difficult group they have managed to qualify as group winners, which sums it all up.
"Nice to see and compete against my former manager Fred Rutten as well, with whom I've worked at PSV Eindhoven for almost two years. With the way Feyenoord is playing now, he proves once again to be a great manager."
This, then, clearly suggests that he will be plying his trade with the Italian outfit after the close of the January transfer window. It remains to be seen, however, as to whether the duo of Manchester United and Chelsea step up in their pursuit of the talented midfielder in the near future.
It's certainly not surprising that Louis van Gaal and Co. at Old Trafford continue to track the Dutchman as the Red Devils boss has a great relationship with the Roma man. And, with United likely to spend once again in 2015, the club certainly have the funds to complete the deal.
Chelsea, on the other hand, already have an array of talent in the middle of the park at Stamford Bridge, but the addition of Strootman would no doubt improve their options even further in the middle of the park.
With the likes of Ramires, Nemanja Matic and Cesc Fabregas already starring at the Blues, Strootman would make them quite the formidable force.
