The WWe have today moved to quash speculation concerning the future of current Heavyweight Champion, Brock Lesnar.
Reports this morning claimed that the WWE had discontinued a number of items of Lesnar merchandise, sparking rumors that the WWE were preparing for the departure of the Beast Incarnate in the near future.
But the organization has moved quickly to quell such concerns.
As reported by WrestlingInc, the WWE has flatly rejected such claims, telling the website:
"There is no truth to this report."
Brock Lesnar, despite holding the title belt craved by all WWE Superstars, has been far from a constant presence in the company. His part-time status meant that it was only this past weekend that Lesnar returned to the ring after months away from the action.
- Is this proof Brock Lesnar is leaving the WWE?
- Frustration growing between main roster and NXT talent
- Chris Jericho speaks out over Goldberg fight
Talk of his departure is therefore never too far from the lips of the WWE Universe and should the WWE have indeed halted production of Lesnar merchandise it would certainly hint that his time in the company was coming to an end.
Their quick and decisive move to reject such claims seems like positive news then, at least showing that the WWE are doing their best to keep intact the image of Lesnar as the current leader of the WWE locker room.
With the wrestler's current deal with the WWE set to run out following 2015's WrestleMania 31 however, rumors concerning his future within the business will rumble on until a new deal is signed.
As mentioned above, Brock Lesnar is far from a fixture on the WWE main roster. When the powerhouse does enter the ring though WWE fans know to expect a night of high drama.
That will be no different when, in what is being billed as their final showdown, Lesnar takes on John Cena for the Heavyweight Championship belt at the upcoming Royal Rumble event.
Having destroyed Cena in their previous meeting it will be interesting to see how their latest match pans out. Vince McMahon meanwhile may be more concerned with how any potential contract talks with the Beast Incarnate move on from here.
