Vince McMahon has had a torrid year. It has arguably been the toughest year for McMahon since he took over pretty much total control of WWE. Money problems and issues with wrestlers left, right and center has left the wrestling company in turmoil, but what needs to be done to save WWE? Should Vince McMahon step down?
There are plenty of fans across the WWE Universe that will always love Vince McMahon until his dying days. No matter how many bad mistakes he makes, they will still respect him because of his undoubted huge role in making the WWE into the dominant global brand it is now.
But others in the WWE Universe, a growing majority these days, feel that Vince McMahon’s days should be over. They feel that McMahon is becoming jaded in his leadership of the company, and those fans have certainly had their fires stoked this year following an array of negative stories regarding McMahon and WWE.
The list of problems is long
CM Punk’s acrimonious exit from WWE back in January the day after Royal Rumble was the start of bad things to come for WWE this year. Losing such a huge superstar like Punk was a massive blow for the company. But not just that, Punk’s clear falling out with McMahon pointed to the boss man’s failure to manage the star wrestler properly.
Then there was McMahon’s decision at WrestleMania 30 in April to end The Undertaker’s streak, a decision many fans are still furious with eight months on. Since then, the man who ended The Streak, Brock Lesnar, has gone on to make a farce of WWE after becoming the Heavyweight Champion before barely attending any shows.

But worst of all, McMahon’s decision to create the WWE Network, a subscription-based online streaming service, has come in for the most criticism this year and has led to the company losing even more money than usual. In the summer, McMahon announced that he was cutting WWE’s 2014 budget by $20 million and numerous wrestlers were fired as a result.
Should Vince McMahon step down?
This past week, a hedge-fund investor with an eye on WWE stock explained that Vince McMahon should step down from the company. He acknowledged WWE’s problems and said that the company ‘really needs a professional CEO’.
You only have to check the message boards on dirt sheets to understand that the majority of WWE fans agree that McMahon should step down. You can’t argue that he’s done a great job at times, but his mistakes recently are something that one article can’t even fully cover.
