The Europa League is not boring

After this week's draw, the Europa League has thrown up some exciting ties around the continent. Let’s take a look at those which look best on paper.

Liverpool find themselves playing Besiktas and Steven Gerrard will face Demba Ba for the first time since the infamous slip, which cost Liverpool the title. Putting that to one side, Besiktas qualified top of their group, ahead of Tottenham.

This tie looks set to be good, as Liverpool’s poor league form may mean the only way they can qualify for next season's Champions League is to win this season's Europa League. However, it will not be easy for Liverpool having to travel to Turkey for a European game.

One of the biggest sides in the world, Inter Milan, were drawn against Celtic. Inter’s recent decline may mean they were not the European giants that they once were, however, the San Siro will still be an extremely tough place for Celtic to go and get a result.

Another tie that sticks out is holders Sevilla taking on Borussia Monchengladbach. The holders came second in their group, whilst Borussia topped theirs.

These two sides are both amongst the favourites to be in the final. However, due to the draw, one will be going out a lot earlier than expected therefore this tie looks as though it shall deliver.

After losing out to Manchester City in the Champions League, Roma will look to win the Europa League. A tough knockout stage draw sees them face Feyenoord.

The Dutch side topped their group ahead of holders, Sevilla. They will pose a tough threat to Roma, but the intensity of the atmosphere in Rome may be too much. One is for certain, it looks to be a cracking tie.

The final tie I have picked out is an interesting one, Anderlecht vs Dynamo Moscow. Dynamo won all six of their group games and could be a dark horse to win the whole tournament. They possess players who have played in big games; such as Mathieu Valbuena and Christopher Samba.

Anderlecht, on the other hand, came from three goals down to get a point against Arsenal. They show great composure and it seems, they fear no-one. This tie could certainly be one to look out for and I will certainly be hoping to see it on television somewhere.
