Mr Money in the Bank Seth Rollins has been speaking to the media about the confirmed news that CM Punk won't be returning to the WWE and has exposed some criticism.
Rollins was equally critical of both Punk and the WWE in his interview with the This Is Awesome Wrestling Show.
He spoke quite extensively on the issue that has plagued the WWE for the majority of 2014 and has divided opinions amongst fans.
Rollins discussed Punk's deal with the UFC, his actual departure from the WWE and the possibility of the Straight Edge superstar returning one day.
"I think it could have handled better, probably, on both sides." - Rollins on the way Punk and WWE parted company
Rollins may feel that the handling of whatever issue it was that drove Punk away could have been better, but he was filled with praise for the former WWE Champion.
- New exciting twist in Brock Lesnar storyline
- Is Randy Orton jealous of Seth Rollins?
- WWE legend says he could quit wrestling for good soon
Rollins is - in some fans opinions - the new best heel in the WWE and his admiration of the man who previously held that role was obvious.
"I really hope that he has as much success there as he has here. I think it will be very interesting for him to try something new."
The WWE Universe is about to follow Punk to the UFC and are all abuzz with anticipation as they await his first match.
The Punk deal was a big coup for the UFC and could just be the first as rumours have been circulating that current WWE World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar is interested in a UFC return.
Rollins stepping up
It goes without saying that Rollins has risen in the WWE since he turned on the Shield and joined the Authority.
He has won the Money in the Bank briefcase, been one of the final two men in the biggest Survivor Series match for over a decade and won more Slammy Awards than anyone.
He headlined both the Hell in a Cell and TLC Pay-Per-Views and competed in one of the rivalries of the year with Dean Ambrose.
He has become one of the biggest names in the company and risen to become the top heel on the roster and actually become quite favourable amongst the WWE Universe.
As we enter a new year, it will be interesting to see what is in-store for the self-proclaimed future of the WWE.
