NXT Takeover: R Evolution is now in the books and will go down as one of the best events on the wrestling calendar this year. Attention now turned to Kevin Owens and the fallout from R Evolution after Owens turned on his best friend Sami Zayn who was crowned the new NXT Champion.

This week on NXT we witnessed the fallout from R Evolution with Adrian Neville and Kevin Owens embroiled in a war of words. The Ascension were still sticking around for a while longer and the Vaudevillains managed to talk themselves into another NXT Tag Team Championship match.

NXT Takeover: R Evolution will probably go down as the best event of 2014 in the WWE with TLC failing to live up to expectations. Bull Dempsey was involved in a dark match on the night where he defeated Steve Cutler.

Kevin Owens made his highly anticipated debut at the event also, defeating CJ Parker in great fashion whilst The Lucha Dragons retained their NXT Tag Team Championships against the Vaudevillains and Baron Corbin defeated Tye Dillinger before engaging in a long stare-off with Bull Dempsey

Charlotte retained her NXT Women’s Championship against Sasha Banks as the fans were treated to incredibly body paint and a great entrance from Finn Balor as he and Hideo Itami teamed up to take down The Ascension. In the main event we saw an epic battle between Adrian Neville and Sami Zayn, as Zayn finally became the NXT Champion but Kevin Owens stole the headlines, hitting a huge apron powerbomb on Zayn to close the show.

This week’s episode of NXT kicked off with a recap of the Takeover event before the former NXT Champion Adrian Neville made his way to the ring to open the show. He talked about how he lost the title to Sami Zayn whilst the fans showed their appreciation. Neville admitted that Sami Zayn was the better man and is proud of them both. As much as he wanted Sami Zayn to come to the ring and celebrate his win, he couldn’t as Kevin Owens attacked him.

Kevin Owens came down to the ring to address what he did but Neville didn’t give him the chance to speak, telling Owen’s he is disgusted with him as he had the chance to do something great on his debut and he chose to attack Sami Zayn. Owens didn’t care what he or the fans had to say because he’s on NXT to get to the highest level and what matters is that he’s finally on NXT. He’s willing to fight anybody he has to in order to get to the top and that includes Adrian Neville which means the main event match was official.

Before the first match can begin, we hear from Becky Lynch who says her attitude hasn’t changed and it doesn’t matter if the fans cheer for her because she’ll end Bayley’s career for good. Tyler Breeze tells the fans that he’s taking some time off from NXT as he’s going to model in Europe but will let the fans who about his whereabouts.

In the first match of the show Becky Lynch took on Bayley in a good back and forth match with a great finish, Lynch locking in the Figure Four Lead Lock to submit Bayley. Backstage, the Vaudevillains – in black and white – talked to William Regal about how Simon Gotch wasn’t the legal man and he was pinned, prompting Regal to trigger a rematch between the two teams at a later date.

Two squash matches followed and as expected, Bull Dempsey and Baron Corbin were involved. First it was Bull Dempsey who dominated right from the get go, throwing his opponent all over the place before following it up with the diving headbutt for the win in just over a minute. As he left the ring Baron Corbin made his way down and the two stared off once more, Corbin threw one punch before hitting the End of Days for the 12 second victory. After the match Dempsey shoved Corbin before walking away to tease a match between the two.

Enzo Amore and Big Cass inside the ring, treating the fans to a brilliant rendition of the 12 days of Christmas which included – 7 fists a-swinging, 6 where it hurts, 5 golden rings, 4 letter words, 3 in the Benz, 2 tough guys and 1 beating from the Certified G’s which received a great reaction from the crowd. Sadly though, it wasn’t enough to take down The Ascension. Enzo tagged himself in towards the end to impress Carmella but Viktor hit a vicious STO for the win.

After the match, The Ascension stayed inside the ring and talked about how the war with Hideo Itami and Finn Balor is far from over, they will fall but The Ascension will rise the next time they meet. Main event time between Owens and Neville which was a great match. Owens spent some time on the outside to get inside Neville’s head. It was a shame to see that they booked Neville not to put up a bigger fight considering he was a champion for the majority of 2014 but nevertheless it built Owens up as a true heel and someone not to cross paths with.

Both men went to the outside as Owens sent Neville into the ring post for a double count out. After the match, Kevin Owens hit another apron powerbomb, this time on Adrian Neville as the show ended with the medical team assisting Adrian Neville.
