Angel di Maria shows Manchester United fans his softer side

Manchester United fans were offered a unique insight into the private life of £59.7 million superstar Angel di Maria earlier today, thanks to the Argentine international's wife.

Di Maria's wife Jorgelina Cardoso is prolific on social media and well worth a follow for Red Devils fans, if only to see snaps of the 26-year-old clearly enjoying life in Manchester with his young family.

Cardoso put together a quick Christmas collage of Di Maria sharing kisses and cuddles with his daughter Mia along with the message 'Amor en estado puro..', which loosely translates to 'love in its purest form.

United's star man returned last weekend

There's every reason for Di Maria to be in high spirits on and off the field, with the ex-Real Madrid hero finally returning from a hamstring injury to feature against Aston Villa on Saturday.

Ready to play from the start?

Di Maria played more than half an hour in the 1-1 draw at Villa Park, which is a massive boost for United ahead of a busy run of festive fixtures. Louis van Gaal's side have struggled all season long to keep the nucleus of their squad fit, with Di Maria also falling victim to that injury plague after damaging his hamstring against Hull last month.

United's club-record capture only missed three weeks of action though and is now in with a strong chance of featuring from the start against Newcastle United on Boxing Day, particularly with games coming thick and fast as we head into 2015.

Van Gaal's side play Newcastle, Tottenham Hotspur and Stoke City in the space of six days, which means even if not quite back at 100% fitness Di Maria will definitely be used over the festive period.

Playing so many games over Christmas and New Year often comes as a shock to big-money signings from the continent, but Di Maria will desperate to prove he's ready to help United push on and fine form over the next fortnight.
