Paris Saint-Germain are hoping to seal a move for Roma playmaker Miralem Pjanic ahead of Manchester United - and could let Adrien Rabiot join either Tottenham or Liverpool as a result.
Pjanic has been linked with a move to the Premier League since before the World Cup, with Tottenham said to be amongst his suitors.
However Manchester United seemed to enter the race for the Bosnian's services after his performances in Brazil as they looked to splash the cash in the summer window. The deal never materialised however but that hasn't stopped the speculation.
Now it seems as though PSG are looking to trump the Red Devils in the new year by making an offer for the Roma playmaker, and that could have a knock on effect for either Tottenham or Liverpool.
The Express say that as things stand, PSG are willing to let Rabiot go, despite the youngster recently penning a new contract to keep him at the Parc des Prince when his departure looked inevitable over the summer.
The Frenchman is well down the pecking order behind the likes of Thiago Motta, Yohan Cabaye, Blaise Matuidi, and Marco Verratti, and would welcome a move in order to get more time on the pitch. Previously it was claimed that Manchester United were interested but it seems to be a straight shoot-out between Liverpool and Tottenham now.
Cabaye could be on the move to as he seeks more game time, with Arsenal and - you guessed it - Manchester United previously linked. In all likelihood take the departures of both Cabaye and Rabiot in order for the swoop for Pjanic to become a reality.
Roma won't want to let one of their best players go easily, especially with Manchester United circling for Kevin Strootman. However their exit from the Champions League at the group stage will count against them, and could open the door for some of their big-name European rivals to swoop.
