Destro, valued by Roma at £20m, has been in and out of the team under Rudi Garcia in Rome and Arsenal and Chelsea are tracking him closely.
According to the Daily Express, Roma want to sign Benteke from Aston Villa, but will need to raise transfer funds first to be able to afford the highly rated Belgian international.
That means Destro, who as noted has not been integral under Garcia, could be expendable in the January transfer window.
Liverpool, along with Chelsea and Arsenal, have been linked with Destro.
Benteke is valued at £26m and only recently extended his contract at Villa Park. He is now tied to the club until the summer of 2017 but Roma believe they can persuade the Belgian international to move under the right financial incentives.
He scored his club's only goal in their 1-1 draw against Manchester United in their last match, and is now approaching his best form after recovering from serious injury.
Destro has 23 goals in 52 appearances in the league for Roma, but could be open to moving to the Premier League, especially to a Champions League club.
