Manchester United saw their winning streak end at Aston Villa on Sunday with a 1-1 draw against ten men, but the visit of Newcastle United will have Louis van Gaal confident his men can get back to winning ways.

Alan Pardew’s team turned their poor early season form around with a winning streak themselves, but away from home they have been disappointing and were thumped 4-1 against Arsenal and 4-0 by Tottenham Hotspur in the last two away trips.

One shock from the Manchester United squad was the absence of Angel di Maria, who had made his comeback from injury as a substitute against Villa. Meanwhile, there is a start for young defender Paddy McNair as Michael Carrick moves into midfield to replace Darren Fletcher.

Here are the teams…

Manchester United

De Gea; Jones, McNair, Evans; Valencia, Carrick, Rooney, Mata, Young; Van Persie, Falcao.

Subs: Lindegaard, Rafael, Smalling, Blackett, Fletcher, A.Pereira, Wilson.

Newcastle United

Alnwick; Janmaat, Coloccini, S.Taylor, Dummett; Colback, Anita; Sissoko, Perez, Gouffran; Armstrong.

Subs: Woodman, Williamson, Satka, Cabella, Vuckic, Riviere, Cisse.
