Former Divas Champion AJ Lee is set to be out of action from WWE for the next few months following her match with Nikki Bella at TLC.
The three-time Divas Champion is thought to have been working injured for the past few months as she tried to wrap up her feud with the Bella Twins. With the feud now completed after TLC a few weeks ago, AJ can now recover for a few months.
It looks like Natalya and Naomi are going to be taking AJ's place in the title picture leading into WrestleMania this year, with no actual date set for AJ 's return. This situation is much like last year, when the two time Diva of the Year left to get married to former WWE Champion CM Punk and returned to win her second divas championship from Paige, the diva she lost it to merely weeks before.
AJ Lee storyline could be scrapped
AJ was sprayed in the face with hairspray at the end of her match with Nikki and it was reported that she had chemical conjunctivitis following the actions of the current champion. That being said, AJ was set to be part of a storyline that would see her injured so that her long term absence would make sense, however, this was scrapped and Nikki instead sprayed AJ and got the pin to retain her title.
This is after the many rumors heading into TLC that reported that AJ was set to leave the company following CM Punk's [her husband] comments about the company and the people who are in power.
This report was never responded to and AJ made an emotional speech following her Slammy award win the week before TLC. She then told JBL on SmackDown that he would "miss her when she was gone." This just further fueled the rumors that the savior of the Divas division was set to walk out, with these rumors still yet to be confirmed or denied.
Will AJ Lee be fired for good?
Instead this latest report just gives WWE further time to cover themselves whilst AJ is off TV, much like they did when CM Punk first left. AJ herself hasn't tweeted or spoke about her time away from the company either, which just leaves fans with further questions.
It will be interesting to see what kind of position AJ is put in when and if she does return in the near or distant future.
