It really is set to be a horrible Christmas for Brendan Rodgers and co. Not only have they been rejected in the opportunity to sign Alexandre Lacazette and Jackson Martinez, but Alan Irvine has now revealed that Saido Berahino will not be leaving the Hawthorns, reports the Daily Mirror.
Tottenham too are suffering the same fate after being snubbed by Martinez and Berahino whose prosperous start to the season has taken an uncharacteristic fall to the ground with no goals in his past nine games in all competitions.
Despite a dent in what was a good run of form after scoring eight goals in all competitions for the Baggies this season, Spurs and Liverpool are still showing interest although they have been given an early warning sign to "not waste their time on Berahino" by West Bromwich Albion manager Alan Irvine.
Spurs won't be enduring as much of a painful Christmas as news of interest from Inter Milan for the services of Paulinho are spilling through across Europe as Mauricio Pochettino looks to wipe his hands clean of the Brazilian who scored six goals in 30 appearances last season whilst under both Andre Villas-Boas and Tim Sherwood.
But since the arrival of former Southampton boss Mauricio Pochettino, the 26-year-old has been unfortunately left out of the Argentine's plans and is urgently searching for a club to sweep him away from the dungeon of White Hart Lane that currently tortures him.
It is expected that the Serie A club will opt to make a loan switch for Paulinho that could see him make a permanent move in the summer for an estimated fee of £12 million, according to the Daily Mirror.
However, it seems harsh for the Brazilian to be so unfairly left out as in the only chance he was given to prove himself, he scored. But ever since, the midfielder is yet to feature again for Spurs thus justifying his urge to leave.
