The Washington Redskins ended a tumultuous 2014 season with a typically lacklustre defeat to the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday.
That defeat means that the Redskins close the campaign having won just four games, only one more than the number of quarterbacks Jay Gruden named as a starter in this his first season as head coach.
Not hanging around
Robert Griffin III, Kirk Cousins and Colt McCoy all spent time as the main man under center for the Redskins in 2014 but one of the trio has already made it clear that he isn't willing to go through the same ordeal next season.
When RGIII was benched in Week 12 it appeared that the hyped quarterback's time in Washington was coming to an end but, after injury and ill-form put pay to Cousins and McCoy's chances, Griffin actually finished the season back in the starting role.
And Kirk Cousins has today made it clear that should Griffin III be named the starter for the 2015 season he wants to be traded from the franchise ASAP.

Dianna Marie Russini, anchor for NBC4 D.C., today relayed an exchange with the back-up-turned-starter-turned-back-up and Cousins was adamant that a lack of quarterback competition would leave his position with the Redskins essentially untenable.
Waiting for his chance
It's not surprising to hear Cousins calling for a chance to be an starting quarterback in the NFL having spent his pro career to date in the background.
Unfortunately for the former Michigan State man he didn't exactly do his chances much good in his five games as starting QB this season. The Redskins tasted defeat in all but his final game against the Titans - and it was Colt McCoy who came into that game to secure the win.
RG3 clearly continues to struggle in Washington and Gruden is known not to be his biggest fan but the owners of the franchise seem adamant to keep faith in Griffin. As such it looks like Cousins may be forced to act on his request, although whether any team is willing to trade for a man who has thrown more interceptions than touchdowns in his career is another question.
