Edge and Christian guest hosted the final Raw of 2014 last night and they promised it would "reek of awesomeness."
One thing that will not be awesome for the WWE Universe is the news that Christian has now officially retired from in-ring competition.
The former tag team champion hasn't been a part of WWE proceedings for months, but returned with his former team mate and fellow retired wrestler last night to make it a memorable night on Raw.
Behind the scenes role in store?
Edge retired from wrestling back in 2011 after being told one more wrong move in the ring could leave him paralysed. Christian's reason for retiring is along the same lines, after a string of injuries and concussions he feels now is the best time to step down.
Captain Charisma still has a year left on his current WWE contract and could still play a role with WWE behind the scenes or in an outside the ring role.

WWE remind us every week that you should "never say never" and Christian could return in the distant future with his well known "one more match" catchphrase, but for now the former champion is stepping down.
Tough to take for fans
This will be a hard pill to swallow for many attitude era WWE fans who loved both Edge and Christian. They were two of the biggest superstars of that era and owned the tag team division, bringing excitement to WWE TV for so many years. Christian's departure likely to be tough to take for those fans.
But with new superstars coming up from NXT there will always be superstars who are having to step down.
Batista is another rumoured wrestler who wants to have his final WWE match this year before he retires, along with Hulk Hogan and Sting. WrestleMania looks like the suggested venue for these superstars but more will become clear as we turn onto the Road to WrestleMania.
