Angel di Maria closing in on fitness return

Published 2 Comments

Manchester United winger Angel di Maria will return sooner rather than later, according to his wife.

Jorgelina Cordoso responded to a fan of the Red Devils on Instagram to reveal that the winger United signed for a club record fee this past summer will be back in action as soon as possible.

Di Maria has missed the club's clashes over the festive period after suffering from a pelvic injury after featuring in the side's 1-1 draw at Villa Park on December 20.

The winger has endured a tricky opening period to his Red Devils career after previously being out of action with a hamstring tear, however it now appears that he could be set to return to full fitness.

His wife certainly expects him to return in the near future as her response, which was in Spanish, can been translated into: "Soon, soon. We are taking very good so he can play as soon as possible."

It remains to be seen, however, as to whether the Argentine ace will feature in the club's New Year's Day showdown with Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium.

It certainly appears unlikely that he will take part in United's clash tomorrow, but Red Devils fans will be hoping for the club to get back to winning ways after being held to a goalless draw at White Hart Lane in their last outing.

With Di Maria likely to miss out, youngster Adnan Januzaj could make the bench, whilst Spaniard Ander Herrera also appears to be in contention as Van Gaal's side look to extend their unbeaten run to 10 games.

There's no doubt about it, Manchester United fans will be excited by the possible return of Di Maria, and they may not have to wait much longer to see their No.7 return to the pitch.
