AS Roma midfielder Kevin Strootman has given the clearest indication yet that he has his heart set on a move to Old Trafford after a picture emerged of him playing Football Manager as Manchester United.
The leaked photo has been doing the rounds on social media, adding further fuel to speculation that the Holland international is poised to move to the Premier League giants when the transfer window reopens in January.
The Red Devils have been heavily linked with the 24-year-old ever since Louis van Gaal succeeded David Moyes as manager, and the only thing seemingly stopping the Serie 'A' star from linking up with his Dutch compatriot at the Theatre of Dreams is the serious anterior cruciate ligament injury that he suffered last season.
Strootman only made his first-team comeback in Rudi Garcia's side last month, but there are already suggestions he could depart Stadio Olimpico in the mid-season window, especially after the Italian giants crashed out of the Champions League at the group stage.
Manchester United are in need of further reinforcements as Van Gaal looks to add a box-to-box midfielder in the New Year, in the hope of improving the club's slim chances of challenging for the domestic title this season.
Realistically, Chelsea and local rivals Manchester City will be too strong for them this term, but the acquisition of Strootman will go some way to making the Red Devils genuine contenders in 2015/16.
And, if this recent snap of the former PSV Eindhoven star is anything to go by, it looks as though Manchester United have a great chance of securing the in-demand star's services in 2015, whether that be in the mid-season window or next summer.
Back in November it was reported that Van Gaal had already shaken hands with the player over a prospective move to Old Trafford, according to Dutch journalist Hugo Borst, who also published a book about the 63-year-old tactician.
The Daily Star explained how the ghost writer of 'O Louis' claimed that Strootman had come to a gentleman's agreement with the Manchester United boss during an Eredivisie match last spring, prior to Van Gaal's appointment in England.
Either way, all the indications point to a probable switch to the Premier League, so don't be surprised to see Strootman turn up at Manchester United in 2015.
