Norwegian youngster Martin Odegaard trained with Manchester United last Thursday, according to the Daily Mail.
The talented attacking midfielder, who is recognised as one of the leading youngsters in world football, has been linked with a number of clubs in recent time, with the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool reportedly interested in his signature.
In fact, the likes of Manchester City, Ajax and Bayern Munich have also been credited with interest in the teenager, but it remains to be seen as to which club he will decide to join.
As it stands, Odegaard is currently plying his trade at Norwegian outfit Stromsgodset, but looks set to join one of Europe's big-boys in the near future. Despite having trained with Manchester United last week, it has been suggested that Ducth side Ajax now lead the race to sign him.
In fact, after training with Louis van Gaal' side, the same report has revealed that Odegaard visited the club's rivals Manchester City, as he continues to assess his options ahead of his first big deal.
There's no doubt about it, whichever club can persuade the youngster to sign for them will gain the services of quite the talent. At just 16 years of age, Odegaard is already a Norway international after impressing at club level.
Of course, with such expectation on his shoulders, he still has it all to prove, but after such an impressive breakthrough he looks destined for the big-time. It appears, though, that the forward is determined to secure first-team football, which could ultimately hinder Manchester United's chances of signing him.
After all, with the likes of Angel di Maria, Juan Mata and Co. all plying their trade at the Theatre of Dreams, he'd struggle to gain opportunities at the club anytime soon. With so many clubs interested in his services, however, this saga looks set to continue until he finally makes a decision over his long term future.
