Edge and Christian host their second show this week

They may have only just regained power in the WWE, but the Authority had a large impact on tonight's Smackdown despite not being in the building.

J&J Security were sent in to address the special guest general managers for the night Edge and Christian as the two would then lead the hired help on a wild goose chase throughout the show.

The famous tag team did however make some great matches to welcome in the first Smackdown of 2015.

They set up a main event between two big hitters and gave two of the bigger guys on the roster the chance to destroy each other.

They did attempt to place J&J Security in a match but that plan never came to fruition, prior to leaving, they drew in marker over Triple H and Stephanie's newest magazine cover.

Roman Reigns vs Rusev

In the main event, one of the most intriguing matches in WWE right now was once again not allowed to play out as Reigns took on Rusev.

As with every other battle between these two, each man had times in the match where he showcased both his strength and skill.

However the match came to an unsurprising end when the Big Show came to the ring pulled Reigns before he could pin the Bulgarian Brute.

The two would then battle outside the ring ending with Reigns serving some karma to the big man by tipping the announcers table on top of him.

Ryback vs Big Show

With the Big Show interfering in the main event, its not that surprising that Rusev was the man to appear in this match.

He caused the distraction that allowed the Big Show to get the win by delivering the knockout punch whilst Ryback was on the apron and he fell to the floor and was counted out.

Rusev attempted to attack Ryback after the match but he wasn't able to lock in the accolade and Ryback got the better of the United States Champion.

Bray Wyatt vs Erick Rowan

Two men who were family members last year faced off tonight with Bray Wyatt attempting to get Erick Rowan to just lay down.

Rowan refused and Wyatt unleashed a relentless attack on his former Wyatt Family member leaving him out in the ring.

Wyatt then delivered a message to Dean Ambrose promising that he will emerge victorious from their ambulance match on RAW this Monday.

Dean Ambrose vs Curtis Axel

It eventually came to Dean Ambrose to have a turn at sending a message and he got the big win over Curtis Axel in a very short match.

Ambrose then delivered his own message to Wyatt claiming that he will ring in the new year by putting the Eater of Worlds in an ambulance.

Tyson Kidd and Cesaro vs Los Matadores

Tyson Kidd and Cesaro continued their impressive push as a tag team as they dominated the match against Los Matadores.

It was all about the strength of Cesaro as he caught the attempted hurricanrana and Kidd made them pay to pick up the win.

Adam Rose and Gold and Stardust vs the Usos and R-Truth

Adam Rose emerged with the rosebuds again minus the bunny to team with Gold and Stardust to take on the new tag team champions and the man who has beaten Rose several times in the last few weeks.

Rose lost the match for his team afer taking a superkick and then a splash from Jey Uso earned them the three count.

The Ascension vs local athletes

The Ascension made their Smackdown debut against a team of local athletes and ran riot over them getting an easy win.
