Steven Gerrard turns down Qatar offer - paper round-up (1)

Steven Gerrard remains the main source of news following the announcement the Liverpool captain would end his long and distinguished association with the Anfield club at the end of this season.

With Gerrard now in the final six months of his contract he is able to speak to suitors about his next destination, and has allayed the fears of Liverpool supporters that he would seek a move to another Premier League side.

A move to the States is the plan for Gerrard and it is expected that he will sign for Los Angeles Galaxy, just as another former England captain, David Beckham, did before him.

“I can tell the supporters at the moment that it will be America,” Gerrard explained.

I’ll be going to play in America but I’m not over the line with any team just yet.”

There is, however, still plenty of speculation in the Sunday newspapers about just where the 34-year-old will end up, and of course there also is much conjecture about the transfer moves for other clubs in the winter window.
