Premier League Southampton came from a goal down to force a replay with Championship high-fliers Ipswich at St. Mary's.
The visitors went ahead when Darren Ambrose's looping header beat Fraser Forster but Morgan Schneiderlin capitalised on a defensive error to level matters before half time. Neither side could force a winner so a replay will take place for a place in the fourth round.
Upset on the cards
Ipswich came out and put the Saints under pressure for the entire first period, and with their confidence flowing they took a deserved lead mid-way through the first half. Former Southampton trainee Tyrone Mings did well down the left and his cross found Darren Ambrose inside the box, with his looping header finding the back of the net.
Southampton hit back just past the half-hour mark when Morgan Schneiderlin capitalised on some poor Ipswich defending. A lack of communication between Christophe Berra and goalkeeper Dean Gerken allowed the Frenchman to nip in and poke the ball over Gerken and into the net.
Before that, Steven Davis should have levelled things as he raced on to Dusan Tadic's through ball only to strike the ball into the legs of Gerken.
