Oldham are on the verge of pulling out of a deal to sign convicted rapist Ched Evans. More than 20,000 people signed a petition urging the club to drop their interest, while some sponsors have threatened to tear up agreements if the move goes ahead.
The club said in a statement today: "Oldham Athletic is not at this stage making any official announcement with regard to the speculation concerning Ched Evans.
"Whilst acknowledging the considerable media attention, we continue to have conversations with representative bodies such as the PFA and will conduct due diligence with regard to any decision we make on this matter."
Anderson shocks Phil Taylor in darts final
Gary Anderson pulled off a thrilling 7-6 win over Phil Taylor in the PDC World Championship Final last night. The 44-year-old scooped £250,000 after edging past 16-time champion Taylor.
The two heavyweights swapped the lead for much of the match before Anderson provided the finish in front of a packed Alexandra Palace crowd.

Next and Bradley Wiggins has signed a short-term contract that will see him stay with Team Sky until April. Afterwards the 34-year-old is expected to switch his attentions to his bid to secure a place at the 2016 Olympics in Rio.
The former Tour de France winner will ride in April's Paris-Roubaix as his farewell to road racing before returning to the track. "Paris-Roubaix is a special race for me and I'm determined to give it another go in Team Sky colours," said Wiggins. "After that, I can focus fully on preparing for the Rio Olympics ."
