Manchester United midfielder Darren Fletcher has insisted that Angel di Maria will become an important player for the Red Devils.
Speaking to MUTV, the Scotsman, who featured in the Red Devils' 2-0 victory over League One outfit Yeovil Town yesterday, has tipped the Argentine to kick on in the second half of the season.
Di Maria hailed
Di Maria, who struck United's second of the afternoon in the FA Cup third round clash, has endured injury problems throughout the campaign so far, but will now be desperate to maintain his fitness in 2015.
And Fletcher, speaking after the victory, hailed the wing wizard, as he said: "It was a touch of class to dink it over the goalkeeper, a fantastic goal, so credit to him.
"He showed exactly what he's all about, he's learning quickly and he makes great, intelligent runs as well. He always wants the ball, he gets kicked and he just keeps getting up – he's that strong.
"We have missed him, but hopefully he's back now and he can kick on for the second half of the season and be the really important player we know he's going to be."
Now, then, with United unbeaten in their last 11 outings, the club will be desperate to kick on over the coming weeks and months as they attempt to close in on the Premier League leaders, whilst also going in search of FA Cup glory.
Influence of Di Maria
And, there's no doubt about it, if United can keep Di Maria fit, then he will prove a key member of the side as they go in search of goals. With Di Maria in the side, United most certainly have another option going forward as he's able to inject crucial pace into the team.
As well as proving a key member of the side, his versatility also helps Van Gaal as he's able to play in a number of different roles in the attacking department.
United fans will now be hoping to see Di Maria in the starting XI as the Red Devils prepare for their Premier League showdown with rivals Southampton on Sunday. Van Gaal's side will be desperate to secure another positive result on home soil as they look to do the double over the Saints this weekend.
