With the 2015 Royal Rumble now just weeks away it looks like one of the WWE's top Superstars will have to hold his own in the ring with little preparation after news today that he has been dropped from several upcoming TV shows.
As per WrestlingInc, Orton has been officially pulled not only from tonight's RAW broadcast coming from Corpus Christi, Texas, but also from this Tuesday's SmackDown and all televised events until January 25th's Royal Rumble.
Fear not though WWE fans it appears the Superstar, who has spent time away from the ring in recent months due to filming commitments, will still make an appearance at the Rumble - with his name still scheduled alongside the great and the good of the WWE main roster.
The decision though to extend Orton's absence from all WWE TV shows seems to have been forced upon the organization due to the wrestler's recent surgery.
Orton recently underwent minor surgery of a deviated septum and as such the WWE have now officially taken the step (mooted for a week or so now) to keep the star off primetime in order to minimize anything going wrong with his rehabilitation.

Orton won't come into the hugely anticipated Royal Rumble totally cold turkey however. In order to get himself into prime condition the popular star will be working a number of non-televised live events in the week running up to the PPV.
He will work consecutive nights in Texas (Jan 17th and 18th) and then shows in New Jersey (23rd and 24th).
Fans may be forced to wait longer than originally expected to see Orton return to the WWE main stage, and when the wrestler finally does resurface they may be disappointed by the outcome.
Many are predicting that Orton will return as a face having been dismissed by The Authority back in 2014.
Either way his comeback will now be yet another thing for the WWE Universe to keep an eye on when the Royal Rumble gets underway. With big names such as Roman Reigns and Daniel Bryan set to enter the ring with points to prove of their own this January's event is set up to be a huge night for everyone involved.
