The New Orleans Saints failed to make the playoffs in 2014 and their new year hasn't started off much better with the news that linebacker Junior Galette was today arrested on domestic violence charges.
Police have said that Galette was arrested in Kenner, Louisiana and he was taken in alongside his cousin Terrance Banks, who was also his teammate at Temple University.
The woman claimed to the police that she is Galette's assistant while the Saints player has said she was a "dancer" that wouldn't leave his house.
Galette was brought in on a charge of simple battery involving domestic violence, while Banks was was booked on a charge of simple battery.
"Junior and Terrance jumped me," the woman told investigators according to the Times-Picayune who cited police spokesman Lt. Brian McGregor.
"Then, I fell down," she told police, "Then they both was on me, and I couldn't breathe."
The woman said she tried to fight both men, but couldn't. Galette is then accused of picking up the woman to put her out. The woman said she grabbed a knife to defend herself because she believed the two men were going to "jump her," according to McGregor.
The women threw down the knife, and Banks picked her up and put her outside with all of her belongings, McGregor said.
When the police arrived, the woman was bleeding from her right ear and had scratches on the side of her face. An earring had been ripped from her ear, McGregor said.
