Lionel Messi follows Chelsea on Instagram

Published 7 Comments

Hold on to your hats folks, Lionel Messi has followed Chelsea on Instagram - which of course only means one thing…

Wait, what does it mean? Well, according to the Daily Mirror and countless other sources in Spain, this innocent follow can be taken as just the latest hint that the Barcelona superstar wants to move to Stamford Bridge sooner rather than later.

The Argentine forward also followed Cesc Fabregas, Thibaut Courtois and Chelsea full-back Filipe Luis in a following spree earlier today, while his partner Antonella Roccuzzo also followed Chelsea on Twitter.

Earlier this month, it was reported by the Daily Express that Roman Abramovich has sanctioned a massive push to try to bring Messi to west London, with the Chelsea owner prepared to spend up to £200m to make it happen.

The timing may be purely coincidental, or maybe Messi is trying to tell us something?!?

The four-time Ballon d'Or winner has been linked with a move away from Barcelona for almost a year now, with the Spanish giants struggling (relatively speaking) on the pitch and Messi dogged by tax problems off it.

As noted previously, Messi signed a contract extension at Barcelona earlier last year, and has never hinted at a move to the Premier League before. PSG were thought to be the frontrunners to sign him last summer, although how likely that was is unclear.

BBC 606 also notes that Messi follows another English club on Instagram - Manchester City.

So which is it Leo, Stamford Bridge or the Etihad?
